Volunteering is a personal value I keep as my moral compass. Back in Fall 2021, I volunteered to paint a mural for the Granada Theater on Spacks Street in Downtown Santa Barbara. Tracy Lee Stum, a high-praised professional muralist, reached out to me because she and her husband Sayak Mitra were commissioned by the Granada Theater to paint a vibrant, 140 foot large-scale mural. This mural was part of the Plaza Granada project, a beautification project that includes a vibrant mural paying homage to the performing arts of the Granada Theater. While volunteering, I learned how to transfer designs while also applying techniques I already knew, such as stenciling, painting, and fine detailing.
